Chess as learning tool
Our Educational system is in constant process of evolution. Before a new system is put in place, several deliberations and viewpoints are considered. Thus, the process cannot be a fast one. On the other hand, as a result of computerisation and advances technology, general developmental changes occur at a faster place. No matter how efficient the education system is, it still embodies certain shortcomings as a result of which parents and teachers are streessed. This stree passes on to students, who many a times are not fully prepared to cope up. Revising the education system too offen could also cause confusion. Need therefore is there to make an average child self reliant to face challenges and equip him with the ability to discover himself, assess and know his strengths and weaknesses and find his way to success.

I’ve just started learning/playing chess and my skill level is pretty low, I’ve never been able to beat ANYONE. On average, how long does it take to get better at chess?
( I play every day )

I’m looking to give my uncle a gift. He’s in the 1300-1400 range, and looking to improve his chess skills. What do you recommend for the PC, between {content}-0?

i think the first and most important reason is i want to make better life decisions. the second reason is to apply it to martial arts. i also think i can get more confident. i talked to my therapist and she said it shouldn’t be about compensating something i’m insecure about. how do i know that studying chess will really be what i want rather than just compensating?

I was told by a friend that one of the best ways he has found to keep his mind sharp is playing chess. Seeing as I have never even so much as held a chess piece in my life, I thought it would be an opportunity to ask the people of Yahoo! Answers a few questions.
1) How/where can I best learn well-explained rules of chess?
2) I tend to think in the short term, so I’d like to learn to be an OFFENSIVE player. Where best can I learn/practice this?
I’m playing completely in the chess program on my Mac.

For someone who’s only started playing chess for 2 months.
Im confident with the queens gambit and sicilian defense so far.
Im thinking of learning the aggressive danish gambit.
Any other useful and famous openings?
