I’m an 1857 rated player. Played since 5. I win alot with Sicilian but when patzers don’t follow book lines it can get a little dicey. e5 bores me, French is cramped. Queen’s Indian can be interesting. Any thoughts?

I’m doing a demonstrative speech on how to play chess this morning. I need to open my speech with something captivating (the "grabber") and close with something–the same thing, something else–suggesting unambiguously the closing of the speech (the "leaver").
I plan on opening the speech with Iran’s relationship with chess. I can’t think of a more clever idea. I don’t yet have a "leaver."
A tournament game that I lost very quickly because of bad planning in the opening and early in the middlegame. As I explain – it would have helped a lot to have a system prepared against the London system before the game. Whatever I came up with over the board was not very good.

www.OnlineChessLessons.net – Amber is well-known because of it’s unique format – half of the tournament is Blindfold Chess, and the other half is Rapid Chess (25 min, 30 sec increment). This video discusses a Blindfolded game at round 3 of Amber 2011 in Monte-Carlo between Vassily Ivanchuk and Hikaru Nakamura. A fantastic Blindfold game played by Nakamura, who was off to somewhat of a slow start in this eccentric tournament. To clarify, Amber has been great tournament throughout the years, displaying the best in the worlds’s Blindfold and Rapid chess skills. Last year, wunderkind Magnus Carlsen tied for first in this event, and he is off to a fantastic start once again. As for the showcased game in this video, Nakamura played aggressively in the opening, confidently seized the initiative, and legitimately converted his advantage with the help of some solid tactics.
