The Alekhine Defense is a hypermodern defense against the e4 opening from white. Thanks for the feedback. I try to cover as much as I can. As you can probably tell this video was 10:35 and youtube won’t let you upload anything approaching 11 minutes. If I become a youtube partner and I can have longer videos I will go more in depth. I will try in the future to cover as much as I can in the time allotted.
I agree with sirpsionics also many times when I try many off your strategy’s the opponent I am playing doesn’t react in one of your predicted paths but they still help a lot and I have gotten a lot better from them so ty.
0:58 white to c4, and so on, chasing the knight around the board.
at 8:45 if Bxf3, Bxf3, white will be attacking the knight on d5 and behind it, will be the undefended b7 pawn, so to defend the knight, black will have to double up pawns on d5 and d6.

I think you missed an important response to the 4 pawn attack, which is 5…dxe5 6.fxe5…c5
Good video. The Alekhine is a contrary opening seeing as it goes against the basic rules of the opening stage, but played well it will turn out to be a good game for black.
Thx for this video. I like this defense for black and have only seen jrobichess’s. Your video is comprehensive and clear but I’m not making a comparison! Could I point out several minor things that might help? That is “from here” is said very frequently. Try to avoid repetition and strive for variety. Also, it is passiveLY and activeLY not passive and active. Dare I say it that they are adverbs, the way you used them and need an ly ending. Great video. Thank you again.
@thechesswebsite You could try making it in seperate parts, I often do that. Anyways though, great vid.

You can make a series of 10 min vids on the opening. Each one featuring a particular variation. Would be great if you could do that….I mean if you have the time to do it that is…:)
@areudun187 i like this, once I get the major openings covered, I may go back and do seperate videos going more in depth for each line of each opening.

I will work on the “from here”s It used to be “simply” so hopefully since I corrected that I can correct “from here” I’ll also really try to work on my adverbs. It’s weird cause they both sound right to me (even though I know using the adverb is correct). I will make an effort to use the correct verbage. Thanks again for helping me make these vids better.

I had a question. Is this defense against white’s pawn to e4 one that is played a lot by grandmasters or masters? Just wondering, because I just wonder how good it does against great players or if it’s used a lot.
9:26 – what should I do after Bxf3 and threat c4?
I think it odd that white wouldn’t go 1. e4 Nf6 2. e5 Nd5 3. c4. They still get the chance to go with d4 and gain centre control (and yes it can very easily reach the same position) but I would think white would want to FORCE black to move his knight around the board.
