Hello;
The short answer is that King Pawn openings are the most common in tournament play … there are a lot of players who ALWAYS open with a King pawn.
Most good openings give slightly better chances to white — roughly 35% of the time White wins … 33% black wins and then 32% are drawn Games.
I haven’t done a real analysis of the question so I am just guessing but the Ruy Lopez is probably the most common opening.
I think that these are the most common openings for black too.
Gens Una Sumas,
Bill
P.S. This is Paul Morphy’s birthday!
Queens Gambit scores great for white (60%)
For black its hard to say because it also depends on whites moves… but I’d say the sicilian lines have a great chance of winning and a small chance of drawing.
It all depends on what opening you use. Do you play the d4 or e4? That makes the difference. There are a million chess variations. There are more chess possibilities than there are atoms in the universe! (One cell has more atoms than stars in the Milky way)
Anyway, there is no such thing as a perfect opening
These statistics show the percentages of games won by white and black and the amount of games drawn from over 500000 matches since 1991.
