I’ve been playing the Pirc (e4 d6) for a long time, but as I get higher in rating, it’s becoming less and less effective. Anyone have a similarly played black response to e4?

The Robatsch Defence is a good chess opening for black that is
extremely similar in game play to the Pirc.
Modern Defense – Wikipedia

A distinction is usually drawn between the Pirc Defence and
lines where Black delays the development of his knight to f6
— this is known as the Modern or Robatsch Defence.

If that’s not different enough, consider Alekhine’s Defence.
Many hypermodern ideas are similar to those in the Pirc Defence,
and black can sometimes transpose into lines of the Pirc Defence.

Aside from the already-mentioned Modern Defense, there isn’t really anything similar. You may therefore have to look at something else if you’re not scoring well enough. Consider the French Defense (1. e4 e6) – nothing annoys white players more.
As usual , Kirk nailed it.
Aslong as you avoid the Sicilian, French, Caro-Kann, and Scandinavian all decent defenses become a variation of the Pirc. (I’m not including the Nimzowitch defense [1e4 Nc6 2 d4!! white achieves his opening goal] because I said "decent.":))
If you truly enjoy the Pirc, then consider playing any hypermodern opening, as the structural idea behind all of them is essentially the same. If you prefer a solid, positional setup, then the Modern Defence mentioned previously is probably your best bet. Otherwise, go crazy. Alekhine’s Defence is a good example of that.
