I’d also like to know any particular variations you like and reasons for playing them if possible.
I like to play the Sicilian systems, mostly Najdorf, and Ruy Lopez Chigorin. Please give any tips on a new opening I should adopt.

I play the English with white. It flexible and can respond to anything black plays. Once you learn the mainlines (Three knights, Keres, Botvinnik), there is nothing that black can play that will catch you off-guard. Most likely you will catch black off-guard.
With black, I play the French. Same reasons- I find it flexible and can easily adapt to what white responds with. The only line I don’t like is the poison pawn variation. I’ll play a Sicilian if I know my opponent likes that line of the French.
Really, there is nothing wrong with the Sicilian. It has been proven to be one of the best openings for black. If you know it, then I would stick with that.
Scotch Gambit (1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 d4 ed 4 Bc4 Bc5 5 c3 dc …)
I always liked the shock value of this Alekhine variation (Scandinavin, I think) (1 e4 Nf6 2Nc3 [I'm lost, let's transpose to the 4Ns game] d5 [No] 3 e5 d4 4 ef dc 5 fg cd+ 6 Qxd2 Qxd2+ 7 Bxd2 Bxg7) [then white realizes we have traded queens and a knight entering a hybrid opening/endgame.]
Kings Pawn Game (1.e4)…if it’s a double kings pawn game than I follow through with queen to h5. Often times when playing against beginner, they move pawn to g6 and then I take over pawn at e5 and rook at h8.
definately Two Knights Defence (for white)
you can get many different types of it if u google it……
trust me, it’s pretty easy and helps me win a lot….
usually i just move the pawn on the far right or left 2 spaces since I’m not a like chess pro idk the names of them
I have always been impartial to the e4 pawn move, followed by the g1 knight to f3. I also occasionally play b2 to b3 if I plan on setting up fianchetto bishops.
I like to play the Sicilian systems, too, because there’s so much you can do with them!
You should always move your pawn double up in front of your king. Then you can move your bishop, your queen and checkmate him.It works for me
the pawn in front of the king because then i can use my queen and bishop
I usually play D-4 Colle system.
Well, for me, all chess openings are the best. Its like going in some place in a dazzling way…
I use knights opening and controlling the center
Depends on my opponent. I’ll feel most comfortable in different types of positions depending on my opponent.
Against computers I tend to play d4 and go for QID or slav types of positions. (closed favoring long term positional considerations)
Against humans I always open e4 and play Sicilian as black. Against weak players I don’t really think about my opening. Against intermediate players I like to play unorthodox (cochrane gambit, four knights game with Nxe5 sacrifice, or ruy lopez with premature Bxf7-type maneuvers). Against strong players it’s e4 and Sicilian as black.
In correspondence I always play 1. … e6 as black. I find the french impossible to lose with day+ time controls.
I normally move the pawn two spaces
move pawns 1 or 2 spaces
Hello –
When I am playing serious chess I like the English: 1. c4.
But there are times when I play chess for fun and then I love to play the Grob: 1. g4
I have a lot of respect for the Ruy Lopez Exchange Variation.
When playing Black against 1. e4 … I often respond with 1. e4 d5 — the Center Counter Gambit.

Best of luck in journey,
Bill
my favourite opening is the ponziani
I don’t really know the real name for the opening but I usually put the pawn in front of the King first since it opens route for my bishop and queen
I’m mainly an e4 player.
I also play the Ruy Lopez Chigorin Variation and the Zaitsev Variation. I really enjoy playing the Sicilian dragon variation (mainly because I’ve had really good results with it – I’ve really carried out some beautiful attacks), French defense (I play it when I want to play a more closed game), modern defense and Pirc Defense (those I haven’t played lately). When someone plays the Caro Kahn against me I usually play the Panov – Botvinnik attack because I haven’t studied the theory behind all the other variations and it provides more of a positional game – reminds me of d4 type systems. I’m a huge fan of the Ruy Lopez Marshal Gambit.
I’m not sure if I should be telling you all this because you might end up preparing something lol
If you want to take a look at a really spectacular game, take a look at this one:

It was played at the Amber Tournament this year and GM Vassily Ivanchuk sacrifices his Queen in a very well known position. It is truly beautiful.
Cheers

I have a book, Kasparov Teaches Chess, that I think you’d like to have if you don’t already. It is a really great book. Email me if you’d like me to send it to you =).
