Does playing chess games (and games like sudoku, computer games…etc.) increase you mathematical abilities?

I am not sure if this is true. Games require a different set of thinking distinct to themselves. Math is like a game in itself and has it’s own distinct “rules.” If playing chess improve your mathematical skills then it should also improve your computer games skills, which does not seem very likely to me. Do you disagree? Argue with me here!

Playing games like chess, sudoku surely help to develop our intellect in the beginning. (note i told in the beginning)
To understand it clearly you have to understand the difference between intellect and knowledge.
Humans have this weakness running behind knowledge always. So the more we play a particular game(let say chess), we will understand the patterns(then it become knowledge) then as usual we will get into the trap of patterns and we will only use the knowledge. Our intellect will be relatively not at all working
) Yes there is a little work of intellect to choose which piece of knowledge i have to choose from the pool at that time also.
So if somebody can implement the things in a way that we won’t be in a trap of patterns, it will be really good.
Hope i don’t have to explain the use of intellect for your mathematical abilities.
Only if your math skills a very rudimentary. But as the others pointed out, exercising the mind is as important as exercising the body. I feel chess is good for formulating outcomes if this or that action occurs plus helps expand one’s attention span…what was the question?
it increases ur concentration for sure
Chess is to the mind as jogging is to the body
They help you concentrate.
Most every activity that requires thinking and calculating works to create new brain cells. So yes would be the simple answer. Another plus is they’re fun.
