How does Deep Blue compare to present-day chess games for the home computer?

I am one of the great fan of the deep blue super computer which beat Gary Kasparov. It can calculated more than two millions position in second. I wonder how does Deep Blue compare to present-day chess games for the home computer?

Depends upon what present-Day games for the home computer refers to…
If you are talking about crappy games like Battle Chess and Chess Titans, Deep Blue would pulverize them anyday.
But if you are talking about engines like Rybka or Chessmaster XI, they COULD give Deep Blue a run for its money. Of course, Deep Blue was made a long time ago, so the fact that it can still compete is an achievement in itself.
I have read that before deep blue was a whole supercomputer but now people can make small computer chips that can be as powerful as deep blue. People think that shredder is equal to deep blue. Now there is a program called rybka that knocked shredder right out and became very powerful.
