Question by : Can I reach a 2000 rating by the end of the summer?
I have a 1400 rating now. I play around 10 matches against humans everyday and more against the computer on a high difficulty. I also started reading books on great past matches and frequently go online to learn new opening strategies. I really wasn’t that into chess until this year but now I love the game.

I don’t know you well enough to say with absolute certainty that you cannot, but I will tell you it would be almost super human. For the rest of us mere ‘mortals’, the gap between 1400 (low intermediate) to 2000 (expert) level is tremendous. To increase your rating by 600 points and reach expert level play in just over 3 months would be an accomplishment rarely seen, but no reason not to try. Increasing your rating by a couple hundred points in such a short period would be impressive and certainly show that you have potential to get there at some point if you really want to put in the study.

Good Luck
