   "yahoo-chess" a lot of people play there, and there are a lot of "clock-cheaters"

   Chess Here is recommended the owner goes out of his way to create acceptable conditions your better off playing there than Yahoo.

   I don’t know if they charge to be a member now or not
   but it was free when I played there

   I am a big fan of Free Internet Chess Server (FICS). This system is probably the very best chess playing experience on the internet. One of the really nice features is that it has lectures on chess. To use it you need to download a special interface and they have to be gotten used to. Once understood they are pretty easy to use. The website to get started is:

   Recently, I have been using a java based site:

   I like this site for casual play. It seems to be very good and it has players listed from all over the world, so you can (sometimes) see you are playing a person from India or Argentina.
