It’s a seven round swiss system and 45 minutes alloted for each player. Right now, I am training myself by studying opening, end game, and practicing with the computer. By the way, I have a rating of 2100. Any more advice anyone can give me for further enhancement of my training preparation for the said tournament? Thanks.

Wow…a B-level pro coach for kids trying to “coach” an expert!
At least I have some experience…I’ll parlay the rating difference and go strong:
1. Always train at level and speed of your projected opponents. NEVER blitz just before a rated standard time game.
2. Your game plan is best established 48 hours or more before your rated standard match.
3. Try not to notice opponents’ ratings and long term reputations, but do pay attention to competitors’ current trends and hot streaks.
4. Own the first 10 moves no matter how much time you have to use to get it.

I had my computer reformatted and reinstalled windows vista a week ago, but I found out that none of the games that comes with vista are in my computer. Games like freecell, hearts, chess, and all those. I tried looking for it in the updates option, but no luck. Anyone knows where I can find them in the net? I’m sure they’re free right? Thanks!
Weird enough, games are not on the list at all in the windows features (Turn on and off windows features)

Yes. You probably need to activate the games. (They’re not accessable by default. How annoying.)
Go to Control Panel -> Programs. Under the top heading (Programs and Features) click on “Turn Windows features on or off”. Another dialogue box will pop up.
It takes a while to load, so be patient and don’t freak out. Games should be the 2nd one in the list of Windows features. Check (tick) the box besides it and click ok to exit. You have another round of waiting to do while the games “install” themselves onto your computer.
There are more games in Vista than the previous OSes:
Chess Titans, Freecell, Hearts, Inkball, Mahjong Titans, Minesweeper, Purple Place, Solitaire, Spider Solitaire.

I’ve recently learned about this chess variant and like it much better than normal chess. i was wondering if anyone knows a good website to play it online at for free. i found one website but the computer didn’t seem to be programmed well enough to provide a strong challenge.
