I’m an 1857 rated player. Played since 5. I win alot with Sicilian but when patzers don’t follow book lines it can get a little dicey. e5 bores me, French is cramped. Queen’s Indian can be interesting. Any thoughts?

I am planning to purchase a laptop which I am going to use as an aid for my chess. I plan to use Fritz 10 to analyze my games and was wondering how much muscle I need (CPU, memory, etc.).

My brother is helping to get a chess academy running that his friend started. What are some things that they can do that will help them manage time/facilitate learning/organize better?
I recommended to him the idea of getting a secretary for example. He followed that suggestion.

I’m doing a demonstrative speech on how to play chess this morning. I need to open my speech with something captivating (the "grabber") and close with something–the same thing, something else–suggesting unambiguously the closing of the speech (the "leaver").
I plan on opening the speech with Iran’s relationship with chess. I can’t think of a more clever idea. I don’t yet have a "leaver."
Any thoughts would be really appreciated.

I am 18 years old and have an 1800 chess rating (USCF). My fiancee is interested in learning chess and I do have three years of teaching experience; however, I have only taught intermediate students. What are some effective strategies for teaching a beginner so that she may, say, reach an 800 rating in one year?
