At first I click the “board” games; then I try to open after clicking the “chess” wording but I received a blank window which does not respond at all.

First, i do have JAVA ALP’ in my computer and i never ever did BLOCK “pop ups” or “cookies” or “cache” in my internet option.
OK! Now, this is the scenario that i am in, when i try to play the New Yahoo Chess on Yahoo.com (Yahoo U.S.A), first i must click on “games” on Yahoo’s home page. Then i click on “Chess” which will lead me to the Yahoo Chess page. In the old version of Yahoo Chess (1-2 months ago), i will then click on “PLAY NOW” and the “Chess room Lobby” would loaded and i can chose which LEVEL i would want to play in. However, now with the New Version of Yahoo Chess, the “Chess Room Lobby” can’t load. Each time when i click on “Play Now” the “Chess room” would pop up as a new window but it can’t load to the “CHess ROOM Lobby”. It keeps on saying, “You have been disconnected. Click OK to Reconnect again”. Well….needless to say, when i click on “OK” to reconnect again the same thing happens and the warning show again saying i have been disconnected!

OK 1st make sure old version is deleted;
Do this; Right click on tools, internet options, general tab, temp files settings button, view objects. High light the game you are having a problem with. Delete it. Now log onto yahoo mail, minimize it then go to game. A new demo will pop up, down load it.
now try a different way of getting in,do not use the play now option.
Go to http://www.shove-it.com find the game lounge you want to play in.(Yahoo chess) Click file,send desk top short cut (for future use) now click on lounge once in select table to play.

i have chess genius program on my computer. It is very powerful for an ordinary player like me. I only play with its weakest level, which is “instant move”. I have played 4500 games with chess genius since mid 2006 and lost all 4500 in a row. But today a very rare exception occurred. I defeated chess genius. It took 78 moves to defeat the engine. In the end I had 3 queens and chess genius was left alone with king. Somehow today chess genius “instant move” mode got crushed. On yahoo chess i’m an ordinary 1330 rating player. However, today i took unusually long time to move. I took 4 to 5 minutes for each move, while chessgenius moved in 0 second. I thought every single strategy and tactic, before making the move and I made each move nervously, thinking CG will defeat me again. I played attack instead of defense. For the past 4 and a half years, I always played defensively. So is it possible the engine got confused today? Or i defeated with skill?

I was white, chess genius was black. The moves with numbers in front of them are mine and the unnumbered moves are chessgenius moves in response to mine.

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This proves you are a very intelligent person. Beating a machine is not at all easy, even at its instant level. I have chess genius too and i wish i can beat it just for once. It scans tens of thousands of nodes each second, yet still couldn’t get you. This was very smart game on your part. Can you please upload your game moves? I’d like to learn from it

A lot of times when I play Chess, I cannot move my King in other directions in Chess. Just one or two places and looking at the board, it looks like I can. This also often happens when many pieces are off the board and I’m trying to capture my opponent’s King. The computer game won’t let me move my King to many directions except for 1 or 2 places when there’s plenty of empty squares. I don’t get it.

A king cannot move to a square where it would be in check. Or in other words to a square that is under attack by one of your opponent’s pieces. So I am guessing that the computer is preventing you from making an illegal move.
Look carefully at the board next time, and see if one of your opponent’s pieces is attacking the square that you are trying to move to.

Everyone is having trouble today. It seems that the Yahoo games server is down, and none of the yahoo games are working. Hopefully the glitch will be fixed soon.

Im in the middle of playing chess (against the computer) ive never won a game, but im really close! the computer has only the king left. i have 2 queens, a king, and a pawn. Whenever i back his king into a spot where he cant move (with my queen and king), a message pops up and says draw. i wanna win! what am i doing wrong!? what should i do?

I understand Yahoo has been having problems, but this problem has been going on for quit a while. I cannot load up a game room in Yahoo games. You know, where you can play with other people… chess and checkers and pool and such… but anyway, my hard drive is a 2001 compaq and ive just recently had it cleaned professionally. Im not sure if the guy whiped out what my computer uses to load up games or not. When i click on a room to play in…it sends me to a sponser page as normal, then it says to “click to continue” so i do. When i do, the room page is supposed to load, but it doesnt. it automatically says “done” in the corner and the bottom part of the page that has the “thinking timer” on it telling you how fast its loading disappears. and the top says “give it 3 minutes, if not, click here” so i click there, and the same thing happens. I dont know how to get it to load up those game sites! please help.
