Most of the grandmasters of chess learn how to play chess since they are little child. As far as I know, not many chess book available for our children to read and makes learning chess fun. One of book that I recommend for children is children’s illustrated chess book , How To Play Chess Like an Animal by Anthea Carson.
This book shows chess openings that have animal names since there are lots of chess openings named after animals. The Orangutan, the Bird, the Alligator, the Pelican to name just a few.
The author herself is a tournament chess player, chess coach and chess author. She is frequently listed in the top 100 chess-playing females in the U.S. She has been playing chess and writing since she was a child.
The book explain the moves of the opening and strategy involved in the opening through fairy tales in the spirit of Aesop’s fables. I wonder why there is no such book like this when I was a kid
In a chess opening (I’m black), how can I keep the white knight on the G8 square from advancing to the E4 square without breaking my pawn chain by moving my F2 pawn to F3?
Also, are there any tricks or tatics to prevent the advancment of enemy knights without breaking my pawn chains?

theres this one chess opening that I read about a few months ago but I can’t remember its name.
All I remember is that the first three moves involve moving 3 pawns to e3, f3, and g3. I’m not entirely sure about the order of these movements, but that’s where the pawns go.
I wanted to say that it was called the hippopotamus defense, but there seems to be a lot of variations over what is considered that. If anyone knows of it (or knows of one that’s very similar such as moving the pawns to e4, f4, and g4) please tell me what it is.
