Ok, now I think this is just a glitch in the computer chess game that I have but I need clarification so that I can be sure.

The computer moved a pawn forward three spaces, so it is one square onto my side of the board. I moved one of my pawns up two from start, using the double manuever a pawn has at the starting line. Well somehow the computer moved diagonally as if I only moved it ONE space forward, and it took my piece as well. Is this just some bizarre glitch in the game or is it possible to do a diagonal attack on a pawn that is BESIDE you when it moves two spaces forward?

In other words, my pawn moved forward two, his was moved three, I was right next to his pawn but he still moved diagonally and took my piece as though I only moved forward one.

I have a number of questions about improving my chess skills.
1. Is there a computer chess game that provides move analysis after the game or during it? With hints and everything?
2. I couldn’t find a particularly useful website offering good chess lessons. The available tutorials aren’t much useful since in order for them to work the pieces must be at certain places otherwise you can’t pull that cool move. Any really cool website?
3. What’s the best way to improve my chess in general? Reading lessons? Playing against computer? Playing against human players?

its my first time to use the computer chess game, how do i move the chessmen across the board?

For example Chess, which is not accessible if a newish Adobe Flash Player is installed on the computer. Chess only works with an old AFP version! For example the problem that one can be booted from rated games (notorious with Chess). For example pool, where the software does all sorts of strange things. Why does Yahoo not get its act together? My impression is that they don’t even try, considering how long these problems have been around.
