i will get the king in a corner and he will have no moves without being taken and then my computer says game draw. why is this not a check mate?

I am not sure if this is true. Games require a different set of thinking distinct to themselves. Math is like a game in itself and has it’s own distinct “rules.” If playing chess improve your mathematical skills then it should also improve your computer games skills, which does not seem very likely to me.
