OnlineChessLessons.net Paul Morphy Vs Consultants (Count Isouard & Duke of Brunswick), Paris 1858 — Morphy, an absolute attacking monster, produces a legendary 17 move classic. This has got to be one of my favorite games of all time, as the New Orleans native literally introduces a new threat with every single move. He clearly demonstrates the 3 Basic Opening Principles 1. Control the center. 2. Develop your pieces. 3. Protect your king. An extremely impressive victory by the 21 year-old Paul Morphy! Note: The story about this game taking place in a theatre and how he played this game in a rushed way is probably an urban myth PGN: [Event "?"] [Site "?"] [Date "1858.??.??"] [Round "?"] [White "Morphy"] [Black "Consultants"] [Result "1-0"] [ICCResult "Black checkmated"] [Opening "Philidor's defense"] [ECO "C41"] [NIC "KP.08"] 1. e4 e5 2. Explores the Ruy Lopez Cozio Defence opening (ECO C60). This defence is a hard one to find solid information on as it is the least explored of the Ruy Lopez variations.
Explores the Ruy Lopez Classical Defence opening (ECO C64). The video includes a match between Emanuel Lasker and Wilhelm Steinitz in the Chess World Championship rematch in 1896.
This is an exploration of the Neo-Steinitz Defense to the Ruy Lopez, 3…a6 4.Ba4 d6. In this video we look at White’s attempt to immediately establish himself in the center with 5.d4. Against the Old Steinitz, we saw that White could force Black to give up the center( www.youtube.com ). Does the inclusion of …a6 and Ba4 make a difference? Watch and find out!!1!!
This is a discussion of a trap in the Ruy Lopez, Steinitz Defense. This is an important trap to know because it shows what happens if Black tries to hold the center in the Steinitz. When Tarrasch beat Marco in 1892, it signaled the beginning of the end for the Old Steinitz Defense. Today the Neo-Steinitz, 3…a6 4.Ba4 d6, is much more popular because it avoids the trap in this video.
