I have my chess tournament soon and it is the semi-finals. My opponent is very strong and I think that he already has a tactic. Please tell me the best opening or some moves that would help me win. (No Fool’s Mate or the 4 move). Thanks!

Question by Michael: In the game of Chess, will there ever be a proof that white can force mate by virtue of moving first?
It seems to me that one day a computer should be able to crunch all possible outcomes and determine that either white could force mate by opening a certain way, or black could force a draw by responding a certain way, before a game is ever played. Like tic-tac-toe or checkers. Has anyone done any work on this?

Yes, this will be solved as a victory for white. It is just a question of when.
